4 reasons Dental Assistants
are paid so well

Dental assisting is a career that has been growing in popularity over the years. This profession is not only rewarding, but it is also financially lucrative. Dental assistants are paid well compared to many other professions in the healthcare industry. In this blog, we will explore four reasons why dental assistants are paid so well.

1

High Demand for Dental Assistants

The demand for dental assistants has been on the rise in recent years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 7 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. The increase in demand is due to various reasons, including an aging population, increased focus on preventive dental care, and advancements in dental technology. As the demand for dental assistants continues to grow, so does the need to offer competitive salaries to attract and retain qualified candidates.

2

Specialized Training and Skill Set

Dental assistants require specialized training and a unique set of skills that are highly valued in the dental industry. They are responsible for various tasks, including taking X-rays, sterilizing instruments, assisting with procedures, and managing patient records. Dental assistants must also have excellent communication skills to interact with patients and work effectively with the dental team. The specialized training and skill set that dental assistants possess are highly sought after and justify their high salaries.

3

Versatility in the Workplace

Dental assistants are versatile and can perform a wide range of duties in the dental office. They work alongside dentists and hygienists to ensure the efficient operation of the office. Dental assistants can also take on administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and billing. Their versatility makes them valuable members of the dental team and justifies their high salaries.

4

Opportunities for Advancement

Dental assistants have the opportunity to advance their careers through continuing education and certification programs. With additional training and experience, dental assistants can take on more advanced roles, such as expanded duties as dental assistants, dental office managers, dental sales representatives, or dental hygiene educators. The career advancement opportunities available to dental assistants make it a highly attractive profession and justify their high salaries.

While there are many reasons to become a dental assistant, here are two unique and out-of-the-box reasons that may surprise you:

  1. Flexibility in Work Schedule:
One of the great things about working as a dental assistant is the flexibility in work schedule. Many dental offices offer part-time or flexible hours, allowing dental assistants to balance work with other responsibilities or pursuits. This flexibility can be especially appealing to those who are pursuing other passions, such as art or music, and need a flexible schedule to accommodate their pursuits.

  2. Opportunity for Growth:
Dental assisting offers the opportunity for growth and advancement. The career advancement opportunities such as Dental Sales, Dental Office Administrators, and Dental Office Manager are just a few examples.    available to dental assistants make it a highly attractive profession.

I enjoyed my experience here at dental assisting 101. The class was in a hybrid format, so we had online work to do where we could move at our own pace and we would meet up once a week and it was more so hands-on learning. I found the internships through the program very helpful because we got to get more hands on experience.

i had so much fun doing their dental assistant program. if you are looking for something more hands on and not to much of a lecture type. this is the program for you. they give you a lot of help whether it’s more one on one or you come to their externship and you get to get a feel for how things will be once you get a job. i think the pace was perfect and everything they teach in class is stuff you’ll study on their online platform. i want to thank dodd, and all the other instructors for taking the time to teach us everything we needed to know and being patient.

I 100% recommend enrolling in this program. No matter if it’s online or in person you are going to come out as a great dental assistant. The in person program offers a lot of hands on training, and gives you an opportunity to work with your peers and get a feel for working in an actual dental office.
