Coronal polishing

Assisting 101 offers an 8-hour course to educate dental assistants in Georgia to perform Coronal Polishing procedures on patients. This course will meet the educational requirements for certification for Georgia and is designed to satisfy the Georgia Board of Dentistry’s educational requirements for dental auxiliary personnel who will qualify for certification in coronal polishing under a dentist’s direct supervision.

eligibility

To be eligible to attend the GDHA Coronal Polishing Course the dental assistant must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Be a graduate of a one (1) year accredited dental assisting program or a dental assisting program approved by the Board, or 
  2. Have been employed as a chair side assistant by a licensed dentist for a continuous twelve (12) month period within the previous three (3) years.  
  3. In addition, the candidate must have a high school diploma, or the equivalent thereof and proof of current CPR certification.

course details

This program offers 8 hours of clinical and didactic education required by the Georgia Board of Dentistry for certification in coronal polishing. 

We have two parts to the program: the online classroom lectures and laboratory training. The classroom learning for each session is available on our online platform. After viewing the webinars, there will be an exam for each course. You will have to pass all the exams and complete all the webinars prior to the first day of training in-person.

The laboratory part of the course will be taught utilizing a traditional hands-on format. You will have to pass the laboratory part in order to receive your Coronal Polishing certification.
